This week I was without power for three days. It wasn't my fault, they didn't pay the bill before I got there. Our water will be shut off soon though because our water bill was 2,000+ Reais because something broke before I got there and obviously we don't have the money to pay it. Also I got shocked by an electric fence because my umbrella touched it. It wasn't as bad as you would think; the skull and crossbones they put on the fence is just to scare people away.
Also I have another mission story, My companion and I had an excellent
first lesson with a man and his son, afterwards we asked the man to say
the prayer. He started off ok, Querido Pai Celestial.... Then he let
loose a rather loud fart and was quiet. I tried sooo hard not to laugh. I
clenched my teeth and everything, but then my companion burst into
laughter, and I couldn't help myself. At least he won't be shy around us
anymore.
The church had a party for Festa Junina, which is where
everyone dresses like people from interior Brazil "Rednecks". At the
church party they had these delicious things that are like the
marshmallows in Lucky Charms, but as big as my fist! So that was
exciting. Also, whenever Brazil is playing a soccer game, the streets are
desolate and nobody will let you in their house or talk to you
